The Melaleuca Wellness Guide has a chapter titled "Glucosamine The Arthritis Nutrient." In that chapter we learn that approximately 27 million people in the U.S. have osteoarthritis, a painful condition also known as degenerative joint disease. It is the most common form of arthritis, mostly affecting middle-aged and older people.

Osteoarthritis is characterized by pain and loss of movement in the hands and weight-bearing joints, such as the knees, hips, feet, and back. What's alarming about osteoarthritis is the fact that most people over sixty show to have osteoarthritis on X-ray, but may not have actual symptoms yet.

Currently, the standard treatment for osteoarthritis involves the use of anti-inflammatory pain medications which only mask the symptoms and do nothing to correct the underlying cause. In fact, regular use of pain killers may actually accelerate the degeneration of cartilage, making the problem worse. When taken regularly, common pain medications have significant side effects like gastrointestinal bleeding and kidney or liver damage.

By contrast, glucosamine has no significant known side effects. It does not mask the pain. It works to help repair damaged cartilage -- the root of the problem. In other words, glucosamine relieves pain by helping to restore and normalize joint function. Most people begin to notice a difference in about two to six weeks after beginning to take glucosamine.

A similar conclusion was reached by researchers who investigated glucosamine hydrochloride in the treatment of knee degenerative osteoarthritis (DOA). They found that "Glucosamine hydrochloride can cure knee DOA (degenerative osteoarthritis) with symptom-relieving and joint function-improving action."

Maintaining healthy cartilage and joints can help prevent knee replacement surgery. This article notes ten ways to avoid knee replacement surgery and list glucosamine supplements as a possible preventative step.

Both Replenex and Replenex Extra Strength contain patented formulas with the more absorbable glucosamine HCL. Both Replenex formulas also contain inflammation-reducing bromelain, healing ginger, and antioxidant rich green tea.

If you are over 50 years old, and are involved in moderate to strenuous activities and/or are overweight, Replenex Extra Strength might be your best formula.

Two Last Notes

The Melaleuca Wellness Guide tells us that dehydrated joints are more painful, so drink more liquids. The Practical Guide to Essential Oils reports that a blend of lavender, marjoram, eucalyptus, rosemary, and peppermint oils diluted in carrier oil significantly lowered arthritis pain and depression compared to the control group that did not use the essential oils.

Essential Oils Booklet

Practical Guide to Essential Oils with References and Traditional Uses

Cover of the Practical Guide to Essential Oils

Plants have been used for thousands of years to help heal, soothe and alter moods. We can imagine early man experimenting with stems, leaves, barks and roots, noting which reduced pain, which reduced swelling, which were calming, and which were stimulating. By trial and error remedies were discovered, and cherished traditional treatments were passed on from generation to generation.

An "essential oil" is the highly concentrated "essence" of the plant from which it was derived. Today research is beginning to explain some of the mystery behind the art and science of essential oil therapy. Clinical studies are currently underway, and many of these studies confirm the remarkable healing properties of essential oils.

Practical Guide to Essential Oils was written for those who are just beginning to experiment with the healing properties of essential oils. Designed as a primer, it gives the reader a basic understanding of what these natural wonders are, and what they can do. Each chapter is written as an introduction to one of the more commonly used essential oils, explaining how that oil has been traditionally used, how it is used today, and what research there is to confirm its effectiveness. Scientific studies and supportive articles are referenced for additional reading.

Replenex Reviews

I started working out to get in shape. Many of the exercises were hard on my knees. The squats, lunges, and jumps were just too much for my knees to handle. I was about to give up trying to get fit. Then I found Replenex. I started taking Replenex and Recovery AI every day. I can now continue my workout plan and have very little to no knee discomfort. I'm starting to reach my fitness goals thanks to Replenex!

I had been using Replenex for about a year. When I decided to try some Replenex treats for my dog, I forgot to buy a bottle for myself. But after a week without it, my whole body ached. Even our spinal cord is a series of joints. I did not wait until the next month's order, but ordered the bottle right away. Thank you, Melaleuca!

Replenex is wonderful! A few months after I enrolled as a customer, I offered a few tablets to my co-worker whom I found limping at work. Her right ankle was hurting for about a week. She took a dose in the evening and she couldn't wait the next day to report that although there's still a slight pain, she felt a lot better and able to walk straight! I remember having goose bumps and my belief on Melaleuca products skyrocketed at that moment. When my 80 year old aunt who has chronic knee pain tried Replenex, she was able to walk flights of stairs at my sister's wedding. She raved about it to the family. My father has mild to moderate arthritis to his knees and Replenex allows him to stay active and play tennis. When he ran out of supply, he had a very painful time getting out of bed. Three days after he resumed, he was back on the court! Personally, I walk a lot on my 12 hour shift and if not working, I run 3 to 4 times a week. I developed plantar fasciitis-like pain last year while training for a half marathon. I've been taking the Total Health Peak Performance since last year and whenever I miss a few doses, the pain gets really bad that I have to wear my runners all the time, even inside the house. As long as I take my supplements religiously, I go about my day to day activities like I used to, taking time off from my runners and switching to stylish flats! Replenex Extra Strength soothes my achy feet.

I had a medical doctor tell me that the body cannot rebuild cartilage. But, while taking the Vitality Pack with Replenex, I have had discs rebuilt in my neck, as well as cartilage in my knee. The physician had said within 2 years I would be begging for a radical knee replacement. The medical team that said I needed a fusion in my neck, as I had one disc ruptured and another badly bulging, and wanted to schedule surgery. Between taking the Replenex and the Vitality Pack, along with friends praying for my recovery both times, at my last ex-rays, I did not have disc problems, and my knee had full cartilage! Melaleuca's nutraceuticals have been human tested and really do what they say they will do. I have a friend who is looking at hip replacement surgery. She has begun the Vitality Pack and extra strength Replenex. We will see what Replenex and God can do for her hip!

~ Eileen

My husband had knee and hip problems for many years, due in part to a motorcycle accident, and possibly in part from being overweight. I had pain in my right knee after much running and a bit of arthritis in my fingers. Extra Strength Replenex has helped both of us so much that we no longer experience pain, and we maintain that pain-free feeling with our daily Replenex.
