MelaGel and Skin Care

(Please read our disclaimer)

Our skin is the largest organ in our body, and a crucial protective barrier separating the inside of our body from what is outside of our body. It can sometimes take effort to be comfortable in our own skin. The Melaleuca Wellness Guide tells us that aging, excessive sun exposure, and environmental stress can over-dry our skin. Hands that are washed frequently can develop excessively dry, cracked skin, including those annoying dry cuticles and "paper cuts." When the skin around our fingernails tears off, it is irritating and may become infected.

Dry Irritated skin can also be found on the heel of the foot and around the ball by the big toe. A moisturizer applied daily helps protect our skin. But excessively dry irritated skin benefits from an extra protective healing barrier.

MelaGel contains a unique combination of soothing, moisturizing and antiseptic ingredients. It contains the moisturizers wheat germ oil and cocoa butter. Patented MelaGel also contains 23% T36-C5. T36-C5 Melaleuca oil is a well-known antiseptic and healing ingredient.

Beeswax helps Melaleuca oil and other botanicals cling to our skin like an invisible bandage. It adds a protective anti-inflammatory skin barrier.

When using skin care products remember to first apply the lightest lotions, layering heavier moisturizers over lighter products. To more effectively treat wounds first apply T36-C5 and then seal with MelaGel.

The Melaleuca Wellness Guide recommends liberally applying Renew Skin Therapy and MelaGel to cracked or infected areas. MelaGel will also make dry heels and dry elbows instantly look and feel better.

The Melaleuca Wellness Guide recommends MelaGel for over 40 conditions.

MelaGel is one of my favorite Melaleuca products. It's a staple in our house. I've used it for 7 years for bumps, bruises, scratches, sliver infections, and even for nasal congestion relief, even in place of a band aid. My 8 and 6 year old ask for MelaGel by name. It's the first thing I'll grab for an "ouchy."

I have to say that MelaGel is the best product. I have used this on myself for many different things, but was very impressed when I used it on my dog. He is a 1 year old lab German Shepherd mix with skin problems. He had a rash that was not responding to any treatment I tried. I spoke with the veterinarian who had me change his diet to grain-free food. I waited to see if this would do the trick. The rash just got worse. The vet suggested allergy medication daily. One day while looking at the rash area I began to wonder if MelaGel would work. I used it on the area for 3 days and the rash was gone! This was back in January and I have not seen it return. The nice thing about the MelaGel is that my dog did not try to lick himself. He was very careful to keep his nose away from the area. I guess the smell of the Melaleuca oil is not favored by dogs.

Here is my recent testimony for MelaGel. I have a condition known as Hidradenitis Suppurativa which is a skin disease that creates cysts or abscesses mainly on my legs. In the past they have gotten extremely large and usually meant a trip to the ER or clinic to have it drained...which is very painful and costly. Well I had one a few days ago and was thinking here we go again... NOT this time. I applied some of the MelaGel and some Melaleuca oil, and within 72 hours it is almost completely gone. Yay! No trip to the ER.

We have five children and nine grandchildren, and have the opportunity to use MelaGel at least weekly. I want to reassure anyone who has noticed sensitivity to tea tree oil. Out of all our family only one of our daughters has sensitivity to tea tree oil when applied directly on an open wound. Once when she was young, I applied MelaGel as always, but that time she had a deeper scrape. We ended up seeing a dermatologist because it wouldn't heal, and determined she had a reaction to the tea tree oil. She is now an adult and uses the Melaleuca tea tree products in all ways except on open wounds or in her mouth, and does better than fine. Sensitivities like this are rare to tea tree oil, but anyone can have an adverse reaction to any natural substance, at least at certain times. We've shopped with Melaleuca since 1991 and I've only heard of one other person that reacted adversely. The rest of us love the healing power of tea tree oil. It's very soothing to rub MelaGel under your nose so you can breathe it in with any respiratory problem. THANK GOD for natural healing solutions! And thank you RM Barry for letting us learn from each other's sharing!

I am a gardener and use MelaGel every day during gardening season. I take a dab and moisturize my fingertips and fingernails before putting on my gloves, and take the tiniest amount and rub barely into my nose. On my hands MelaGel protects my skin, and under my nose it acts like a trap keeping dust and allergens out of my nose. If I forget, my hands are a mess and my sinuses get stuffy.

MelaGel goes with me wherever I go! It is used to soothe any bites or scratches, and I use it morning and night to soften my cuticles. In the past I used to get occasional bruises from "who knows where?" With MelaGel applied in the early stages, the bruises disappeared without turning black and blue. MelaGel is also my choice for healing a raw nose after lots of allergy wipes! That is the only time I find it stings, and then only for a minute before it does its grand job of healing and soothing. Never will I be without MelaGel!

I suffer from skin rashes during the summer months from heat, sweat, especially under the bands of my intimate clothing. The doctor had prescribed some kind of steroid cream to heal the rashes, but it never worked, and the rashes kept coming back. Last summer I found myself away at a camp for a week when I got one of the rashes. I didn't have any of the doctor's cream with me, but I did bring a tube of MelaGel...The rash cleared up in only a few days (less than half the time of the doctor's cream) and I didn't get another rash for the rest of the summer! MelaGel is by far one of my favorite products!

My five year old son fell off the four wheeler and had a serious cut under his eye. I used MelaGel once a day for about 4-5 days and his wound not only healed quickly but without infection. He never once complained that it burned or that it irritated his eye. To top it off he has no scar! Thanks Melaleuca!
