Heart Disease News and Tips

(Please read our disclaimer)

Heart disease is the number one killer in the US, and is a major cause of disability. According to the American Heart Association's Heart Disease and Stroke Statistical Update 2014 one American dies of heart disease, stroke, or other cardiovascular disease every 40 seconds, more than all forms of cancer combined.

The Melaleuca Wellness Guide tells us that there are various forms of heart disease: High blood pressure, coronary artery disease, heart failure, and stroke. The most important thing you can do to control your risk of heart disease is to make sure your blood pressure and cholesterol levels are in an acceptable range.

According to new research published by the American Heart Association, overweight or obese, middle-aged women who lose a modest amount of weight over two years may reduce risk factors for heart disease and diabetes. Those who maintained a 10 percent or more weight loss for two years reduced their cholesterol levels and reduced inflammation markers.

Grape seed, grape skin and red wine are useful additions in the quest for better heart health and reducing high blood pressure. According to a one month study, grape seed extract lowered blood pressure and reduced oxidized LDL cholesterol levels.

Grapes contain phenolic compounds that have anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and anti-clotting properties. They induce the release of nitric oxide within the blood which in turn reduces the stickiness of blood, minimizing the buildup of arterial plaque. This helps maintain normal blood pressure and normal blood flow, or normal endothelial function.

ProvexCV helps maintain healthy blood pressure and promotes healthy blood platelet activity improving endothelial function, all good things for your heart. Recent research found that heart disease and approximately half of all strokes are the result of advanced arteriosclerosis with damaged endothelium, the inner lining of blood vessels.

Multiple scientists and medical experts have found that cranberries may improve heart health by improving blood cholesterol and lowering blood pressure and inflammation. Cranberries also help support endothelial function and reduce arteriosclerosis.

CranBarrier contains 1000 mg of cranberry extract which is the amount that is found in 10 ounces of pure undiluted cranberry juice. It would take up to 32 ounces of diluted, sweetened juice drink to take in the recommended 1000mg of cranberry extract.

Vitality Coldwater Omega-3 and Vitality Omega-3 Creme Delight include multi-health benefiting omega-3s.

Another good for your heart supplement is Phytomega. It contains research-recommended amounts of plant sterols, that are known to lower LDL cholesterol, along with 1000 mg of healthy omega-3 fatty acids.

Almost all of us are at risk for heart disease and as we age the risk rises dramatically. That said, according to the CDC, heart disease is one of the most common and preventable diseases. Along with eating a heart-healthy diet and getting regular exercise, try to maintain a healthy weight, avoid any form of tobacco, and get regular health screenings.

Several years after becoming a Melaleuca customer, my husband was told by his doctor that his cholesterol was too high and he should be put on Lipitor. Not wanting to take this medication and risk the side effects it may have on his body, he decided to follow the Melaleuca Wellness Guide's advice on what supplements from Melaleuca would reduce his cholesterol! After about 5 months, he went to the doctor. and had his blood work done. His doctor was shocked at his numbers and asked him what he had been doing? (For example, exercising, dieting, etc.) My husband simply replied with pride, I am taking some Melaleuca supplements that are supposed to lower your cholesterol! His doctor simply stated, I'm not sure what these supplement are, but I suggest you keep it up! THANK YOU MELALEUCA ... AND THANK YOU FOR THE WELLNESS GUIDE! As for our family, we'd be lost without it!

While I do not have heart disease, I used to have hypertension. I was not too surprised by my genetic disposition to having high blood pressure since my dad has been on medication since he was in his early 20's, yet I was surprised that eating a healthy diet and exercising still wasn't enough. I was diagnosed at age 30 and my blood pressure was 160/100. I took Lisinopril for 2 years and then learned about Melaleuca and the heart health supplements. I immediately began taking ProvexCV which came in my Value Pack and discontinued my medication. I have never looked back. Now my blood pressure runs about 117/70. As a dietitian, I have always been health conscious, and have eaten fruits and vegetables and watched my salt intake in addition to exercising for good health. Supplements have become my insurance when those lifestyle habits are not enough. I know they have helped my immune system and will keep my heart healthier for the long term, and with heart disease in both sets of grandparents that is very important to me.

I believe that Melaleuca's Vitality Total+ 50 (I'm 80) is what keeps my blood pressure down. I was at our daughter's in Pennsylvania and ran out of the packets for about a week. When I came home my pressure was 222/104 after driving the 8-1/2 hour drive home. It is back to normal now (127/75).Not having the daily Vitality Total is the only reason I can see for the high reading. I am so happy to not have to take medication for this, I believe, inherited condition. Thank you Melaleuca.
