Healthy Brain / Unforgettables

(Please read our disclaimer)

What we eat can help maintain brain health or speed brain aging. So what foods are good for the brain? We know from experience that some foods do make us more alert, and some foods can make us feel sleepy. But what does science say? To maintain brain health we need to eat a very specific type of fat. Consuming the wrong types of fat can be damaging to our brains.

CNN reports that a study found that people with lower levels of omega-3 fatty acids have smaller brains corresponding to about two years of brain aging.

Another important brain ingredient is found in fermented foods. A Science Daily article explains how probiotics or good bacteria in our digestive tract can affect brain function.

Phosphatidylserine, better known as PS, is an important natural component found in all cells, and more so in the brain. It helps move nutrients into cells, and pumps waste products out of cells. We learn that phosphatidylserine can rejuvenate the cell membranes of the brain.

Scientists believe that as the brain ages PS levels decrease. Unfortunately as we age absorption of PS from foods is greatly diminished. A double-blind placebo-controlled trial demonstrated that supplementing with phosphatidylserine containing omega-3 fatty acids may improve memory in older persons.

The Melaleuca Wellness Guide tells us that, if we are concerned about maintaining memory, recall, or concentration, to use Unforgettables. It's a very unique supplement that helps support brain health by using a formula that includes antioxidants (blueberries and vitamin E), omega-3s with DHA and EPA, ginkgo biloba, which has long been used for maintaining healthy brain circulation, and soy phosphatidylserine.

And now it also appears that phosphatidylserine helps fight Parkinson's disease.

The positive things we do to protect and maintain heart health also helps us maintain brain health. Maintaining healthy body weight is especially important. A PubMed study found that middle age persons with excessive visceral body fat have smaller brains.

I play bridge much too infrequently, so when I do, my brain needs all the help it can get! So, I always (when I remember!) take Unforgettables before I play. It makes such a difference in my memory, focus and recall.

DOUBLE BONUS: I have never had a good memory; it must be genetic. My dad was complaining of how badly Mom was forgetting stuff. As a joke, I sent her a bottle of Unforgettables. She took them and admitted they made a difference. If it would help my mom, I thought I should try them too. I started taking them when I was helping plan a conference in 2009. I had so much on my plate that I would forget simple stuff, worse than my "usual forgetfulness." I was amazed how it helped me to keep my head clear and remember so many details as I juggled planning the conference, managing my family, home schooling, working as a Serena coordinator, etc. The added bonus is that I took the chocolate Unforgettables so I got my chocolate fix every day too! I tell my kids it is chocolate medicine for my memory; it's only for Mom. I think I'm safe from my kids robbing my stash since you only acquire a taste for dark chocolate as you age and your taste buds are more refined - I hope!

Thank you very much for this wonderful newsletter. I learn great things about what my body needs. God bless you and company, Melaleuca. We had a truck hit us from the rear and I developed brain inflammation as a result. Imagine my relief when that very next month the new product was Unforgettables. What a great help to my thinking problems. My Mom has dementia, so again I was relieved to have such an amazing solution available. Today I am well and thinking much clearer. Hallelujah!

Five years ago I sustained a major concussion which left me without many of my basic cognitive functions (reading, writing, typing, following a conversation, speaking fluently, making even small decisions, or doing ANYthing that would allow me to return to teaching at the college. After two years of migraine-inducing daily rehab, I was told that I had reached the peak of recovery and it was time to adapt to this "new normal." My friend suggested the Melaleuca vitamins. Unable to make a decision, I just followed her suggestion. I started with the Vitality 4 and quickly moved to the Vitality 6. I added the Coldwater Omega. After almost three years of being on these supplements, despite the opinions of various doctors, specialists, and rehab therapists that I was definitely "finished improving," I am now back to reading voraciously, having rich conversations with friends, and teaching part-time at the college. Can't wait to see what the Unforgettables will do when I add them to the mix! Melaleuca has given me my life back and I am so grateful!
