A sneeze is a mighty powerful thing! Coughing, sneezing, and a runny nose are ways our body rids itself of disease-causing viruses or bacteria. A sneeze creates a "high-propulsion sneeze cloud" that can contaminate a room in minutes.
It is easy for a sick person to contaminate the places they touch. We are shocked to learn that our computer keyboard, kitchen sink, phone handset, remote control, and the refrigerator handle might harbor more germs per square inch than a toilet seat!
Indeed our kitchens harbor bacteria in places where we may miss cleaning such as the refrigerator's water-dispenser and the rubber gasket on most blenders. Two-part spatulas, can openers, and the refrigerator meat and vegetable compartments also have the highest germ counts.
Bleach with its caustic, poisonous nature and toxic fumes will disinfect, but it is hazardous to people and pets. It is particularly dangerous to persons with asthma and other breathing problems.
Fortunately essential oils are effective at killing disease-causing organism. In nature, plants produce antioxidants and other natural chemicals that act as their own natural insect repellent and disease and virus fighters. Science Daily reports that the antimicrobial activities of eight essential oils were tested and thyme oil was found to be the most effective.
Sol-U-Guard Botanical Disinfectant contains thyme oil and citric acid. Both active ingredients are necessary because some germs are more vulnerable to thyme oil and others are more vulnerable to citric acid. Mild herbal-scented Sol-U-Guard Botanical Disinfectant is EPA approved.
An independent study proved patented Sol-U-Guard Botanical to be 99.9% effective against cold and flu viruses, including MRSA, E.coli, strep, salmonella, and more. Made entirely of food-grade ingredients, Sol-U-Guard Botanical is safe to use around pets and children, and can be used on surfaces where food is prepared.
The Melaleuca Wellness Guide recommends the use of Sol-U-Guard Botanical on hard, non-porous surfaces including: faucets, sinks, door knobs, countertops, high chairs, changing tables, toys, and any hard surface where big or little fingers repeatedly touch.
A group of scientists from England and India found that oregano oil was better at killing MRSA (methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus) than 18 antibiotics. The oil was effective at very low concentrations, a dilution of 1 to 1000. It was potent as a liquid or vapor, and still powerful when used in boiling water.
Sneezes happen. Don't try to suppress a sneeze. Holding a sneeze can cause a ruptured eardrum or a pulled muscle. The safest and less contaminating way to sneeze is to sneeze into the crook of your elbow. Washing our hands and carefully cleaning commonly touched surfaces, food preparation and storage areas, and kitchen tools is one of the most important measures we can take to remain healthy

Practical Guide to Essential Oils with References and Traditional Uses
Plants have been used for thousands of years to help heal, soothe and alter moods. We can imagine early man experimenting with stems, leaves, barks and roots, noting which reduced pain, which reduced swelling, which were calming, and which were stimulating. By trial and error remedies were discovered, and cherished traditional treatments were passed on from generation to generation.
An "essential oil" is the highly concentrated "essence" of the plant from which it was derived. Today research is beginning to explain some of the mystery behind the art and science of essential oil therapy. Clinical studies are currently underway, and many of these studies confirm the remarkable healing properties of essential oils.
Practical Guide to Essential Oils was written for those who are just beginning to experiment with the healing properties of essential oils. Designed as a primer, it gives the reader a basic understanding of what these natural wonders are, and what they can do. Each chapter is written as an introduction to one of the more commonly used essential oils, explaining how that oil has been traditionally used, how it is used today, and what research there is to confirm its effectiveness. Scientific studies and supportive articles are referenced for additional reading.

I taught kindergarten for 21 years, and was always concerned about the cleaners that the custodians used in my classroom to clean the tables. Usually, I was in the classroom when they came in after the school day, and they gave me a large bottle of the cleaner to spray on the tables. It left a film on each table, and the tables were never really clean, which bothered me. My last year of teaching, I enrolled as a Melaleuca shopper. I was so very happy about the cleaners that I began using them in my own home. Because of the safety of Sol-U-Guard Botanical, I took a bottle to my classroom to clean off the tables. When the young children had their snack break, they enjoyed helping me to clean off the tables in the room. I had several helpers each day to clean the tables. Everything looked and smelled so fresh, and I was never concerned that there was anything in Sol-U-Guard Botanical that would harm the students. What a refreshing change at school, as well as in my own home!
I love to clean with Sol-U-Guard Botanical because if my house doesn't have the Sol-U-Guard scent, then I feel my home isn't clean. I believe because I clean with it often it helps to keep all the viruses out of my home. I'm not saying we don't get sick, but since I converted our home to Melaleuca we don't get sick as often and our allergies have diminished. I also keep our diffuser going with peppermint, lemon, or frankincense to keep the air clean, clear and fresh.
We were out visiting our son and daughter-in-law in Edmonton and their dog, a Husky, was very sick in the baby's room while we were out shopping. My daughter-in-law had never seen a mess like this one before as their dog is usually never ill. Fortunately, they had become Melaleuca customers only a few months prior and had some of the basic products on hand. I told them to leave me to it and got to work. After getting rid of the basic mess, I then sprayed the area with Sol-U-Mel and just patted the area. I then used the Sol-U-Guard lightly over the area a few times. Not only was the stain on the light beige carpet gone, but the room smelled fresh. They couldn't even tell where their dog had been ill. Were they ever impressed!
Sol-U-Mel is my "go to" cleaner. From first thing in the morning when making up the bed, I spray to freshen. I spray carpeting just before vacuuming for freshening and killing dust mites and pet dander. Spraying my houseplants to deter whatever may want to attack them. Also acts as a food for plants. And of course, for easy cleaning of pets accidents! I don't know how I ever got along without this fabulous product. And because it is concentrated, it not only saves money, but the convenience of just refilling the spray bottle, not having to run to the store to buy more cleaner...THANK YOU MELALEUCA!!!!
I work in a call center, and everyone who works in such an office environment knows how quickly illnesses can run through the co-workers. Being someone who is sensitive to the harsh toxic chemicals of typical cleaning products, I have always struggled with allowing use of disinfectants around my desk and cubical. I would either feel sick from the chemicals, or feel sick because of the colds. I couldn't win! Then I found Sol-U-Guard Botanical disinfectant! Now me and my cubical mates use Melaleuca's products to save our lungs from the toxic cleaners, and chase away the nasty bugs trying to make us sick. I've not gotten sick once since we have converted, and no less than three colds and a bout of the flu have run through my office. I am a huge fan! - Fun tip, after washing dishes, spray some Sol-U-Guard Botanical on your sponge to destroy any bad bacteria that might try to grow!
